Period poverty is a deeply saddening fact of life for many women across the United Kingdom. 1 in 10 cannot afford adequate sanitary wear and so are having to use old socks, rags and even plastic bags.
Preventing Period Poverty is a non-profit organisation run by two wonderfully dedicated 17 year old girls, on a mission to educate and help those living in period poverty.
This Story and Preventing Period Poverty have teamed up to design a piece of jewellery that not only tells a story and helps spread the word, it helps homeless women across the UK have safer, more hygienic periods. 60% of profits made from the sale of this necklace will go towards distributing sanitary wear to homeless shelters across London and UK.
Each Bleeding Heart necklace is hand crafted with love and cast into sterling silver to last a life-time, a keepsake to remind you that you helped towards the fight to end period poverty.
